走胎，是坊间一种流传甚广的迷信说法，多发生于十几岁以下孩童，其中又以尚在哺乳期的婴儿最为常见。通常认为是小孩三元之气秉赋不足，因外出，走夜路或遇危险场面，突受惊吓而致气血逆乱，上阻头耳面部，意即：因惊骇、体虚、大病失掉魂魄，魂不附体所致。走胎越久，病情越重，不治久之可夭亡。
走胎共分为花胎、人胎、猴胎、狗胎等十二种，除去细节上略有不同（比如走猴胎的小孩老是撅嘴，会将眼睛鼻子拼命拢到一起，看上去与猴无异），其他方面则较为类似，一般表现为头发稀疏成束、面黄肌瘦、肚涨如鼓、耳后筋脉隆起、体倦无力、少气懒言、爱腐吞酸、喜食生物，再严重一点的高烧不断，胡言乱语。
想必各位有点好奇，我一个二十出头的年轻人怎么知道这些。只因我就走过胎，还是相对少见的牛胎。
这事是五伯说起的。据说在我刚两岁时，我妈带着我回娘家玩了一趟，回来之后家人就发觉不对劲。最开始是无精打采，讨厌别人抱或者逗，动不动哭闹，不吃饭。后来喜欢做些怪动作，比如挪动身子在地上墙上乱蹭，洗澡时全身泡在水中不动，呼吸也变得急促响亮。最后高烧不断，长睡不起。种种表现与之前判若两人，或者不能说“人”，因为这些行为举止活脱脱像头牛。
五伯对这类事情一向比较敏感，当即猜测莫非是走胎，或者撞了邪，得赶紧找懂的人来瞧瞧。我父亲从来不信这些，但见这几天打针住院丝毫没有好转，而且动作行为诡异反常，确实不止生病那么简单，只得心急如焚到处打听。单位同事告诉他，底下乡里有个叫“王家台”的地方，住着位孤寡老人，对这很在行，不如找他来试试。父亲一听喜不自禁，连忙将人请到家中。

需要准备的东西很常见，要我剪掉的手指甲和脚趾甲各三片，一撮头发，另外备好香、纸、一个鸡蛋和一根黑线。其中鸡蛋和黑线最好是去别人家偷，或者讨，这样比较容易烧到胎。
第二天天色将黑时，老头来了，手里还提溜着两把捆好的干茅草。他先是嘴中念念有词的撕散纸钱，然后又将鸡蛋和包有我指甲头发的纸包用黑线捆好，放在茅草里，还在鸡蛋上画了符，虔诚的念了段类似咒语的话。最后他起身烧起三柱香，点燃了茅草。
家人站在一旁紧张等待，大气都不敢喘。随着火苗慢慢变大，茅草全都烧起来时，只听得一声闷响，蛋壳炸了。家人不明情况，纷纷吓得哆嗦，唯独老头拍手笑了：“烧到了！”但他没有马上把火熄灭，说要等到鸡蛋烧熟。
茅草烧完后，老头将鸡蛋取出来递给我父亲，让他剥壳，去掉蛋清。只见蛋黄已经不再完整，成了两半，一半是张脸的形状，一对朝天尖角，分明就是张牛脸。另一半有条细长的线，像牛尾巴。家人惊俱不已，连声道谢，张罗着留老
