“小弟啊，去接个电话，我在忙，走不开！”卞玉英正在厨房煮粥，此时铃声大作。
“我也忙，走不开！姐，你自己接啦！”客厅里传来电视机嘈杂的声响和弟弟的不耐烦。
电话执著地响个不停。卞玉英无奈地关小炉子上的火，去客厅接电话。
“彬彬啊，我知道，我会准时到……”两分钟之后，在卞玉英的承诺中，对方挂了电话。卞玉英又回到厨房，继续煮粥。
粥刚刚煮好端上桌，铃声再一次响起，卞玉英无奈地再次接起来，电话那头传出一个急匆匆的女声：“阿英，地点改了，我们先去跑马地电车总站见面。六点半哦，你不要迟到！”
卞玉英又好气又好笑：“喂，陈彬彬，哪次不是你迟到，还好意思说呢！我知道了，我五点半就出门，你不要又让我等一个钟头哦！”
卞玉英收拾好书包，和小弟打了招呼，提前离开了家。从家到跑马地电车总站，坐车需要大约五十分钟。

-1975年，警方拘捕案发时在雪糕公司工作的中国籍男子欧阳炳强，并控告他谋杀。欧阳炳强被判罪名成立并被处以死刑。这是香港首宗没有人证，纯粹以科学鉴证定罪的谋杀案。欧阳炳强的妻子张金凤多次为丈夫上诉，官司打到了伦敦枢密院，仍以失败告终。此案至今仍有不少疑点，纸盒上的指印不是欧阳炳强留下的；案发地点找不到死者卞玉英的指纹；警方也一直找不到卞玉英的随身物品。警方在死者卞玉英身上发现的269条纤维，只有其中7条与欧阳炳强衣服的纤维吻合。1977年2月，欧阳炳强被特赦，改为终身监禁。2002年，欧阳炳强获得假释。
